I suffer from foot pain and use orthotics and foot support inserts.
My feet don’t hurt as long as I use them so I never leave home without them.
However, the inserts won’t stay put in my house slippers.
Yes, I tried those expensive slippers with built-in support.
Three things made me dislike them: the built-in support did not fit well, they were bulky and heavy, and they don't wash or dry well.

One day, out of desperation, I made a pair of all-cloth slippers with only the re-positionable arch support pockets.
They were made with scraps of cloth but THEY WORKED GREAT! For the next pair I added the ball-of-foot and heel pockets.
I could mix and match all kinds of inserts depending on my needs..
