Em 18 de setembro de 2013 foi publicada a Lei nº 5.799/13 que criou o Conselho Municipal de Desenvolvimento Econômico e Social - COMDES.

De natureza consultiva fica definida, como função precípua do Conselho, a promoção do diálogo entre os atores da sociedade local, visando a articulação na promoção ampla do desenvolvimento econômico e social no município..
Cabe ao Conselho: .
- Mediar debates, propor metas de desenvolvimento, estabelecer diretrizes, identificar problemas e buscar soluções com vistas a geração de emprego, desenvolvimento econômico e social do município;.

- Atração de investimentos e melhoria do clima de negócios, propor diretrizes para estabelecimento de política de incentivos fiscais e tributários;.

- Elaborar ou iniciar estudos, relatórios, recomendações a respeito de assuntos econômicos, sociais e conexos;.

- Instituir Comissões Técnicas, para realização de estudos, pareceres e análises de matérias para subsidiar a tomada de decisão..
