O Clube Excursionista Carioca, foi fundado em 21 de fevereiro de 1946, é uma sociedade civil sem fins lucrativos e de utilidade pública federal.
Tem por finalidade a promoção de atividades em montanhas (caminhadas e escaladas), o treinamento para tais atividades e ainda a conscientização da importância da conservação do que resta da natureza.
