Detailed description is I am a multidisciplinary artist working in a number of, seemingly, contradictory modes.
My current obsession is with the figure and particularly with heads This is the complete artist's statement and elaborates on the abstract on the "About" section of the Facebook page:.

As an multidisciplinary artists, I work in a number of different and, seemingly, contradictory modes: representationally with the figure, including portraits, in oil and other media, semi-abstract pieces usually in acrylic and mixed media, and 3D installation.
I say "seemingly" since to me they are not so different - the portraits particularly demand an attention to detail and nuance that, when I am in the process, is utterly abstract, while the mixed media compositions have their genesis in narrative, as do the installation pieces..

The human face is imprinted on us from day one; it is an endless source of fascination and mystery to me.
My aim when painting a portrait is to solve the visual puzzle and illuminate, but not necessarily solve, its mystery.
In painterly terms, the process of reaching for the form is both intuitive and formal; it is an intense experience that requires deep and deliberate observation.
As one enters into it, subtle angles, shapes and colors become apparent—the most exciting of which are often found in the shadows.
When I catch them, I know I am on song..

The mixed media pieces are about the nebulousness of memory and of dreams.
Their starting point is always the figure.
I gather, or invent, evidence of the memory/dream; this may be drawings, photographs, letters, snippets from newspapers, lists from the phone book, maps, etc.
The process of making the artwork is a process of losing, reclaiming, and again losing the evidence and, in so doing, new meanings arise.
I try to hold on to details as you would on waking from a dream that is dissolving even as you try to grasp it and hold on to it.
Yet even as the meaning of the dream recedes beyond reach, it leaves a residue: the ghost of a feeling, a mood, an atmosphere.
These are common experiences to all of us and these are the ideas I am playing with as I work on these paintings..
