The City of Hobart Bushcare Program provides an opportunity for the community to work with the Council to help enhance wildlife habitat, protect threatened flora, build and maintain tracks, and help make Hobart's bushland areas a better place.
It's also a great opportunity to meet other like minded people, have a laugh, and learn a few new skills while you do.
It only takes volunteering a few hours a year to help make a different to Hobart’s bushland areas..

Bushcare groups are working in Hobart’s bushland areas for generations to come.
Their efforts make a difference now and are helping to build a brighter future.
In 2014, the City of Hobart Bushcare program celebrated 21 years of Bushcare in Hobart.
Bushcare volunteers have contributed $1.65 million worth of labour in regenerating the city’s bush reserves and improving habitat for bird life, bandicoots and other creatures.

Today, there are 16 active groups working in the City of Hobart with the support of the Council.
These groups are: Cornelian Bay Bushcare, Friends of soldiers Memorial Avenue, Kangaroo Valley Bushcare, Friends of Knocklofty Bushcare, Valley Street Bushcare, Tasmanian College of English, South Hobart Bushcare, Waterworks Valley Bushcare, Fern Tree Bushcare, Ridgeway Bushcare, Mount Nelson Bushcare, Lambert Gully Bushcare, Friends of McAulay, Friends of Truganini and Friends of Pearce’s Park.
