Detailed description is Le château des Comtes de Challes est un château du situé en France sur la commune de Challes-les-Eaux, dans le département de la Savoie en région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.SituationLe château est situé dans la Montée du Château, au nord-est de la commune de Challes-les-Eaux, en Savoie.HistoireLe château a été construit au par Étienne de Challes.
En 1590, Louis de Challes décède sans héritier direct, devenant le dernier descendant d’Étienne.Le château est vendu à Louis Milliet quatre ans plus tard, faisant apparaitre la lignée des Milliet de Challes.
Abandonné par ses propriétaires lors de la révolution française, il est vendu comme bien national à Jacques-Antoine Balmain, un juriste du tribunal de Grenoble, dont l’une des filles épouse Louis Domenget, le docteur qui découvre en 1841 la source à l’origine du thermalisme à Challes-les-Eaux.En 1871, il est acheté par la “Société des eaux minérales de Challes” qui fait construire un bâtiment autour du donjon et renomme l’ensemble « Hôtel du Château »
