Detailed description is Home of the Griffins Women's Volleyball team! Philadelphia, Pa.
– (8/28/2012) – Chestnut Hill College enjoyed their first-ever Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) postseason appearance in 2011.
Determined to return, the Griffins will challenge themselves with a highly competitive non-conference schedule and the drive to improve every day.
Captains, junior outside hitter Alexandra DePalma (Shillington, Pa.) and senior middle hitter Cassie Benson (Rosamond, Calif.) will direct the Griffins, who return eight student-athletes and add an abundance of new talent to a roster that made 2011 the program's best to date..

After earning an All-CACC Second Team selection and Team Most Valuable Player (MVP) award, DePalma will serve as the primary target in the Griffin offense.
She finished 2011 ranked second in the CACC in kills-per-game (3.22), while also providing 45 aces, 404 digs, and 18 blocks.
DePalma will be supported by a deep frontline consisting of junior middle hitter Mary Markowski (Parkton, Md.) and sophomore right side Kaitlyn Schock (Allentown, Pa.), who both provided over 100 kills last season.
Markowski and Schock also combined for 86 blocks in 2011, providing some valuable defense from a strong offensive unit that also returns junior outside hitter Kailey Arlen (Orland Park, Ill.).
Adding depth to the frontline, Head Coach Kim Feeny welcomes freshman right side Andrada Saitoc (Paulesti, Romania), outside hitter Abby Gruver (Coplay, Pa.), and middle hitter Rachel Biro (Nazareth, Pa.) to make up for the unexpected loss of senior middle hitter Cassie Benson (Rosamond, Calif.)..

Unfortunately, for the Griffins to excel in 2012 they will need to recover from two significant off-season losses.
At setter, the Griffins will look to freshman Alyssa Tamsing (Ventura, Calif.) to fill the shoes of CACC Rookie of the Year, Sidney Chukuntarod.
While at libero, freshman Meghan Chiovitti (Brighton, Colo.) takes the reigns from the program's all-time leader in digs, Elisabeth DiGregorio (1,607).
Tamsing was a Tri-Valley All-League First Teamer who led St.
Bonaventure High School (California) to the 2010 Carpinteria Fall Classic, while Chiovitti left Holy Family Catholic High School (Colorado) as an All-Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) First Team performer with the school's single-season records for digs (452, 4.6/game) and aces (77) in a single-season.
In reserve, the Griffins carry junior setter Allison Eberly (Orwigsburg, Pa.) and senior setter Courtney Gallo (Wilmington, Del.), while Chiovitti's defensive efforts will be supported by the return of defensive specialists, junior Sarah Mattaliano (Coral Springs, Fla.) and the addition of freshmen Deanna Bianchini (Blue Bell, Pa.) and Elizabeth Levis (Center Valley, Pa.)..

The Griffins open their 2012 schedule at the Rollins College Invitational on Friday, August 31, challenging some of the top National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II competition in Minnesota State University-Moorhead, Eckerd College, Kentucky State University, and Pace University.
