Born and raised in the Finger Lakes, a robust agricultural and aquacultural region in upstate New York, Chef Russell has always had a strong interest in cultivating and working with local products, a passion he brings to the table as Executive Chef.
Frequenting nearby farms as a child, Jeff expanded his knowledge of the area’s produce and proteins, developing his own culinary creations at the early age of 15.
Realizing that cooking was more than just a pastime, Jeff trained at the renowned Culinary Institute of America where he was able to bring his childhood pursuits to classical techniques like whole animal butchery and charcuterie production.

After graduating from the CIA, Jeff made his way across the country, landing at The Broadmoor, a five-star luxury hotel in Colorado Springs.
There he interned under Culinary Gold Medal Winner Sigfried Eisenberger, honing his craft and perfecting large-scale service, often hosting thousands of guests at a single event.

Chef Russell spent a few of his years on the Island of Martha's Vineyard working at the extremely exclusive and prestigious West Chop Club as the Executive Chef.

During his time in DC, he elevated the restaurant standard with his hands on approach, overseeing all aspects of the 300-seat restaurant as well as the demands of Charlie Palmer Steak’s ample catering and banquet business.
He garnered local praise when he planted his own produce garden in Alexandria’s public garden project, aptly named Jeff-to-Table, which he used to fuel the restaurant’s menu during DC’s growing months..
After nearly ten years in Washington, Chef Russell yearned for more than just a city garden plot.
With that in mind, he packed his bags and headed west to California’s expansive farmlands, which he will draw on in his position as Executive Chef for Charlie Palmer’s newest steakhouse in the forthcoming Archer Hotel Napa.
At Archer, downtown Napa’s luxury, boutique, 183-room hotel, Russell will oversee Charlie Palmer Steak Napa, located on the ground floor, and also the highly anticipated rooftop bar and all culinary direction throughout the hotel, scheduled to open in mid 2017.
