Detailed description is CF4CF: Competitive Fitness for Cystic Fibrosis is an annual event aimed to raise awareness and raise money for research to find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis Welcome to our 2nd Annual fundraiser for The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, CF 4 CF (CrossFitters for Cystic Fibrosis).
This in an event hosted to raise money to find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis.
In our inaugural year at CrossFit South River in Edgewater, MD we raised $5,000 to help research a cure.
This year, our goal is to double that and raise $10,000.

WHY WE DO IT.
We at CrossFit South River (CFSR) have two deep connections with this genetic disease; Megan Lauffer aged 23 years and Zoe Boench, aged 9 years.
Megan was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) when she was 6 years old.
She has been an active member at CFSR since 2013.
She was originally drawn to CFSR when she met Erin Boench, a partner there.
Erin’s daughter Zoe also has the life threatening disease.

You wouldn’t know it by looking at them, but CF is very serious, complicated and life threatening.
It affects the lungs and the digestive system of those affected by clogging them up with thick sticky mucus making it difficult to breathe and digest food.
It also leads to serious and chronic bacterial infections of the lungs which permanently damage them – many CF patients ultimately require a lung transplant.
The life expectancy is currently around 40 years old.
There is no cure for CF… yet..

The CF Foundation provides funding to research for a cure and they are getting very close.
In the 1950’s children with CF were not expected to live long enough to attend elementary school.
Today, the median predicted age of survival is in the 40’s, with a significantly better quality of life.
At CF4CF, we do not directly collect any money from registration, all money goes straight to The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

WHAT IS CF4CF.
We love CrossFit.
We love our friends suffering from Cystic Fibrosis.
We are constantly inspired by their determination in the face of their lung disease.
We want to help and we want to have fun doing it.
This one day competition is meant to be a “lung burner.” We want you huffing and puffing.
And when you are, remember Megan and Zoe and the 30,000 other people suffering through this disease every day.

To help reach our goal, CrossFit Old Line in Millersville, MD majorly stepped up and offered us their space which can accommodate a lot more teams.
This year we will be capping registration at 70 Teams, so sign up early.
Last years even sold out in 3 weeks.

There will be prizes for Male/Female teams finishing in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in an RX and Scaled Division.
There are two WODs and a final WOD for the top 5 teams in each division.
