Detailed description is O Centro de Estudos de Línguas é um projeto da Universidade Federal do Amazonas em Humaitá, voltado ao ensino de Línguas Estrangeiras.
O Centro de Estudos de Línguas - CEL foi constituído em maio de 2010 pelo Colegiado de Letras do Instituto de Educação, Agricultura e Ambiente (IEAA-UFAM), em Humaitá, com o apoio do Departamento de Letras - Línguas Estrangeiras (DLLE) da UFAM em Manaus.
As atividades do CEL são marcadas pelo ensino básico e intermediário da Língua Inglesa, realizado nas dependências da UFAM e voltado para os alunos da UFAM, IFAM, UEA, Ensino Médio e Fundamental das escolas regulares do Município de Humaitá.
O CEL pretende configurar-se como um centro de excelência de ensino-aprendizagem de Língua Inglesa, oportunizando não só a comunidade em geral a aprendizagem de uma língua estrangeira, mas também propiciar ao futuro professor do Curso de Letras do IEAA a possibilidade de campo de estágio que lhe proporcione subsídios necessários ao seu aprimoramento e formação profissional, bem como tornar-se campo de pesquisa em ensino de línguas.
As atividades didático-pedagógicas do Projeto CEL estão calcadas na Abordagem Comunicativa, porém com foco na oralidade.
No entanto, o Projeto CEL também reverencia o ensino-aprendizagem do desenvolvimento da leitura e da escrita.
A gramática é sutilmente inserida no processo de aprendizagem, fazendo com que o aluno internalize e automatize a estrutura da língua de maneira indutiva.
Assim, o Projeto CEL oportuniza ao aluno as quatro habilidades linguísticas fundamentais: compreensão auditiva, produção oral, leitura e escrita.
O sistema de avaliação é contínuo e sistemático, composto por avaliações diagnósticas (minitestes), formativas (exercícios escolares escritos e orais) e somativas (avaliações escritas e orais).
O Projeto CEL é constituído de uma coordenação geral, vice coordenação, estagiários regentes, monitores, voluntários, professores e alunos e é mantido pela Universidade Federal do Amazonas, a qual fornece o espaço físico ao início das atividades.
Atualmente, é coordenado pela Professora Mariana Rissi Azevedo a atende cerca de 300 alunos.
