O Centro Especializado em Plantas Aromáticas, Medicinais e Tóxicas (CEPLAMT) tem como objetivo principal recuperar informações, imagens e amostras de plantas úteis nativas do Brasil, em bibliografia e documentos históricos, e disponibilizá-las, de forma organizada.
O CEPLAMT é constituído pelos pesquisadores e estudantes que integram o Grupo de Estudos e Pesquisas em Plantas Aromáticas, Medicinais e Tóxicas (GEPLAMT cadastrado no CNPQ).
No Banco de Dados e Amostras de Plantas aromáticas, Medicinais e Tóxicas (DATAPLAMT) estão sendo armazenadas informações sobre centenas de plantas úteis que compõe a biodiversidade brasileira, depositadas em Instituições nacionais e estrangeiras.
As informações recuperadas e organizadas são posteriormente disponibilizadas em bibliografia publicada pelo grupo, incluindo a tradução de obras antigas e preparação de materiais para popularização da ciência.
No website www.dataplamt.org.br é possível encontrar informações sobre o uso tradicional das plantas, além de imagens atuais e de exscicatas coletadas por naturalistas, e depositadas em instituições brasileiras e da Europa.
Amostras das plantas são conservadas, tanto na coleção de plantas vivas (horta), quanto na coleção de drogas vegetais (credenciada no CGEN/MMA)..
