Detailed description is The Center for Excellence in Learning Through Service (CELTS) at Berea College educates students for leadership in service and social justice through promotion and coordination of academic service-learning and student-led community service.
CELTS Coordinates the following programs:.

Adopt-a-Grandparent: 15 – 20 regular weekly volunteers.
Monthly Saturday programs at the two local Nursing Homes; weekly individual visits from volunteers .

Berea Buddies: 55 children (ages 6-12) and 55 student volunteers.
Mon & Tues evenings on campus; 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm (Big and Little Buddy meet individually for these two hours each week).

Berea Teen Mentoring: 15–20 teens (13–16 years of age) and 1-3 student volunteers.
Monday and Tuesday on campus 3:00 to 6:00; Thursday evenings on campus 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm plus some Saturdays (This is a group mentoring experience; not an individual mentor-mentee relationship) .

Berea Tutoring: 45 children (K-12, emphasis on primary grades) and 45 student tutors.
5 afternoons per week on campus; 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm; children and tutors set their individual time (two hours each week).
