A primeira Igreja não Romana no Brasil foi a Anglicana (Church of England), por meio das capelanias inglesas que aqui foram oficializadas em 1810 sendo que a nossa comunidade em São Paulo foi registrada oficialmente em 1873..
A IEAB, como conhecemos, advém dos episcopais americanos e foi estabelecida em 1890.
Portanto, as capelanias inglesas têm 80 anos a mais de vida e seus patrimônios são intocáveis, segundo o tratado de 1810 e sempre respeitados nos demais acordos entre as capelanias espalhadas pelo Brasil e a IEAB.
Em 1975 a Saint Paul’s Anglican Church (atual Catedral Anglicana de São Paulo) se filia ESPIRITUALMENTE à igreja nacional, permanecendo com seu patrimônio pertencente à comunidade da Catedral.
Esse acordo foi formalizado pela Junta Paroquial, com ênfase na existência de laços espirituais, mas não patrimoniais (a exemplo de Santos e Rio de Janeiro)..
A Catedral Anglicana de São Paulo, novamente por meio da soberania constitucional de sua Assembleia Geral, ratifica, por unanimidade, que terá sempre prioritariamente um Bispo da Comunhão Anglicana como líder espiritual, como têm sido ao longo dos seus 140 anos de história.
E numa nova Assembleia Geral e soberana, e novamente por unanimidade, confirma os Bispos anglicanos Dom Roger Douglas Bird e Dom Glauco Soares de Lima como seus líderes espirituais.
A Catedral Anglicana de São Paulo continuará dando atendimento espiritual a toda comunidade de língua inglesa (Britânica e Internacional de São Paulo), bem como a todos os organismos oficiais Britânicos.
E também, como estabelece seu estatuto, permanecerá levando o Evangelho de Nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo a todos os Brasileiros que apreciam a forma inclusiva, didática, terapêutica e carinhosa de proclamar as Boas Novas do Reino de Deus.
