Detailed description is The Texas A&M University Commerce Caribbean Students Association is a place where individuals from anywhere can come enjoy the Caribbean Culture.
It was a cold and stormy night at Texas A&M University Commerce, when Omar Brown and Dimitri Lyon recognized the need for an association on campus dedicated to meet the needs of the university's growing, but small Caribbean students numbering no more than 5, majority of which were Jamaicans.
As the year progressed students began to arrive from other countries such as St Kitts and Nevis, Grenada, and St.
Vincent to name a few.
The student body at A&M Commerce realized the growth in the Caribbean population, and many individuals desired to know more about what the Caribbean had to offer.
To fulfill that desire Omar and Dimitri initiated the process to get the organization started.
It was a tedious venture which required constant review by administrators and other school advisors.
After several weeks of writing and revising the constitution, as well as the organization's aims and purposes, the two were able to obtain the 10 signatures needed to start the Organization and the Caribbean Students Association (CaribSA) was born.
