Detailed description is The BYU Astronomical Society is a student-run organization under the direction of the Department of Physics and Astronomy.
We love star parties! This is the official Facebook page for the student-run organization the Brigham Young University Astronomical Society under the direction of the Department of Physics and Astronomy..

Our purpose is: 1)To educate the Society membership and the general public about astronomy.
2)To improve BYU’s planetarium and observatory facilities.
3)To allow Society members to develop their talents.
The Society provides several leadership and developmental opportunities for its members, including the chance to write, produce, and present astronomy shows.
4)To provide research facilities and opportunities for Society members.
The Society provides training on these facilities, under the direction of the Society Advisorship..

Membership is open to any and all with an interest in astronomy, stargazing, physics, planetariums, telescopes, or staying up late.
Dues are $5 a semester and 2 Friday nights volunteering at the Deck..

Society activities:.
- Weekly public planetarium shows (every Friday at 7 and 8pm).
- Weekly public night sky observation (following planetarium shows).
- Monthly meeting.
- Monthly star parties at a dark sky site (Saturday closest to new moon).
