The structure combines local pines and portions of a 200 year old barn from Ontario, which we dismantled and shipped ourselves.
Our post and beam home was built by skilled local craftsmen.

This is a timber-frame home.
The new timbers are Nova Scotia pine milled in Guysborough County.
The reclaimed timbers are from a remarkable barn, formally located in Aberfoyle, Ontario, Victor’s family roots.
Victor’s father and brother assisted in salvaging and preparing the timbers for shipping to Nova Scotia.
The board and batten exterior is eastern hemlock, also milled in Guysborough County.
The framing crew was directed by Nadine’s cousin, a local timber framer.
All the exterior stone was gathered locally for the walls, steps and walkways..

All the interior doors are reclaimed.
Many are formally exterior doors from our previous home, a stone edifice in downtown Guelph, Ontario.
Our stair/railing system is the work of a local wrought iron craftsman from New Glasgow.
The infill of the upper railing is reclaimed boards from a local abandoned home.
The black walnut stair-treads was a tree felled in a downtown parking lot of a pub in Guelph, Ontario.
Then the boards were made into stair-treads by a boat builder who resides in Ballantyne’s Cove..
