Detailed description is The Block-Heads tent is the third oldest chapter of the Sons of the Desert, the International Laurel & Hardy Club.
Oasis #3 was "foundered' in March 1966.
The Sons of the Desert was founded in New York City by Laurel and Hardy's official biographer John McCabe in May of 1965.
By the end of the year, a second chapter began in Detroit, Michigan, which met in the Detroit Press Club.

Publicity about the fledgling organization was picked-up by the wire services.
Seeing the news item, Roy Dunlap, an editor at the Saint Paul Pioneer Press and Dispatch, called the club to the attention of movie columnist Bill Diehl.
Dunlap knew of Diehl's love of Stan and Ollie, and suggested that he consider starting a similar group in Saint Paul.
Diehl shared the idea with the paper's political cartoonist, Jerry Fearing, who happily climbed on board! .

Diehl used his movie review and Hollywood news column to promote the concept of a local Laurel and Hardy club, and solicited names and addresses from interested parties.
Diehl also promoted the group on the air as a radio personality on a popular top 40s station.
