Originally called Black Locust Farm, Joseph changed it to Black Locust Company to encompass the full spectrum of goods and services that he offered both on and off the farm.

In 2013 Kira Sawyer-Hartigan and husband Daniel Hartigan returned to their family land and reclaimed the name Black Locust Farm, but with a new twist- focusing on perennial edible and medicinal plants and mushrooms, though we can’t help but grow some of our favorite annuals too! .

We sell our organically grown produce through wholesale distribution or direct off the farm sales.
We also offer permaculture consultation, individual or group vegan cooking classes, wild foraged and farm grown medical tinctures and other educational homesteading opportunities, including internships..
