Aufgrund des Vorhandenseins eines Seitenschiffumgangs war die für Buddhisten übliche Umschreitung des Stupa sowohl direkt als auch indirekt möglich.
Möglicherweise war jedoch die nahe Umschreitung und das Berühren des Stupa nur den Mönchen oder anderen hochgestellten Personen vorbehalten.
