Barış Manço, Türk sanatçı, şarkıcı, besteci, söz yazarı, TV programı yapımcısı ve sunucusu,köşe yazarı Devlet Sanatçısı ve Kültür Elçisi'dir.
Türkiye'de rock müziğin öncülerinden, Anadolu Rock türünün kurucuları arasında sayılan sanatçının, müziğe başlangıcı Galatasaray Lisesi'nde olmuştur.
Lise öğreniminde okul değiştirmiştir.
Şişli Terakki lisesinde eğitimini tamamlayan sanatçı, Yüksek öğrenimini Belçika Kraliyet Akademisi'nde,"resim-grafik-iç mimari" alanında tamamladı ve okulunu birincilik ile bitirdi.
Bestelediği 200’ün üzerindeki şarkısı, kendisine on iki altın ve bir platin albüm ve kaset ödülü kazandırdı.
Bu şarkıların bir bölümü daha sonra Arapça, Bulgarca, Flemenkçe, Almanca, Fransızca, İbranice, İngilizce, Japonca ve Yunanca olarak yorumlandı.
Hazırladığı televizyon programıyla Dünya'nın pek çok ülkesine gitmiş, bu nedenle "Barış Çelebi" olarak adlandırılmıştır.
Barış Manço 1991 yılında Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Devlet Sanatçısı Unvanı'na layık görüldü.1 Şubat 1999 tarihinde, evinde geçirdiği kalp krizi sonucu, kaldırıldığı Siyami Ersek Hastanesinde aynı gece vefat etmiştir.
