Detailed description is Bad Harzburg ist ein Kopfbahnhof im niedersächsischen Kurort Bad Harzburg.
Der Bahnhof ist der südliche Endpunkt der 1841 fertiggestellten Strecke aus Braunschweig, die als erste staatlich betriebene Eisenbahnstrecke Deutschlands gilt.
Zusätzlich ist der Bahnhof auch Endpunkt zweier weiterer Strecken aus Oker und Ilsenburg (Harz).Lage und AufbauDer Bahnhof befindet sich nördlich der Harzburger Innenstadt auf einer Höhe von rund 328 Meter über Normalnull.
Die Bahnhofsgleise verlaufen in nordwest-südöstlicher Richtung.
Die Anlage wird im Süden durch die Dr.-Heinrich-Jasper-Straße/Herzog-Julius-Straße (Landesstraße 501) begrenzt, im Osten und Norden von der Straße Am Güterbahnhof und im Westen von der Badestraße.Die Betriebsstelle ist an den VzG-Strecken 1901 (Braunschweig Hbf – Bad Harzburg) und 6425 ( und Bad Harzburg – Oker) gelegen.
Die Strecke aus Richtung Stapelburg ist seit 1973 stillgelegt und wurde einige Jahre später zurückgebaut.Die sechs Hauptgleise des Personenbahnhofs (Gleise 1–6) befinden sich an der Südwestseite an drei Mittelbahnsteigen; Gleis 1 ist außer Betrieb.
Gleis 1/2 ist nicht überdacht, die Gleise 3/4 bzw.
5/6) sind es teilweise.
Eine Bahnhofshalle existiert nicht.
Die Bahnsteige sind über einen Querbahnsteig am Südostende miteinander verbunden, daran schließt sich das Empfangsgebäude aus dem Jahr 1905 an.
