My name is Kevin Dellape and I am the founder of Great Commission Schools, the former superintendent of Belleville Mennonite School, a guest speaker at local churches, and the founder of Backyard Ministries – a brand new ministry that shares the love of Jesus Christ with families who live in government housing projects.

For the past six years, I have been conducting a ministry to children who live in housing projects in Lewistown and Mount Union called the Backyard Club.
During these once a week summer clubs for kids, Christian teen-agers demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ by engaging children in games, sharing a snack, and teaching a Bible lesson.
The results of this ministry of freeze-pops, kickball, and sidewalk chalk have been extraordinary.
The children of these needy neighborhoods have embraced the BYC in ways that we never expected.
Through this simple model, the BYC has connected with more than 100 children.
Most importantly, a number of these precious children have accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.
Along the way, we have developed relationships with many of their parents and been presented with ministry opportunities that go beyond the original vision of the BYC..

Backyard Ministries engages these new opportunities by expanding the ministry of the BYC to include targeted pastoral care for the neighborhoods, weekly Bible studies and support groups, and a unique weekly fellowship meal and worship service with a special focus on missions and evangelism.
The theme verse for Backyard Ministries is Luke 3:4-6, “As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, saying: ‘the voice of one crying in the wilderness: prepare the way of the Lord; make His paths straight.
Every valley shall be filled and every mountain and hill brought low; the crooked places shall be made straight and the rough ways smooth; and all flesh shall see the salvation of God.’”.

I believe that Christians are called to share the love of Christ in the poorest and neediest neighborhoods in our communities, to be a voice crying in a wilderness of poverty, addiction, and broken families of the transformational power of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the One who can make the crooked straight and the rough smooth.
This mission oriented ministry will seek to do what the traditional church struggles with, reaching out beyond its walls to the un-churched of their community.
The mission of Backyard Ministries will be directed to evangelism and discipleship.
We will do the front end work of reaching the lost and then connect them to local churches.
We will be a partner not a competitor to local evangelical churches..
