1.
Pricing – How much are memberships?.
.
Yearly – membership for twelve (12) consecutive months, commencing at the date of payment of the applicable fee and expiring at the same date in the following year..

Monthly – membership for one (1) month, commencing at the date of payment of the applicable fee and expiring at the same date in the following month.
No records can be broken while on a monthly membership.
(Non-lifter – and Spotter and Loader monthly not available)..

Upgrade: Monthly to Yearly membership – Prior to the expiration of a Monthly membership, a member may upgrade to a Yearly membership by paying the difference to make up the cost of an annual membership fee.
An upgraded membership commences on the date of payment of the original Monthly membership fee and will expire on the same date in the following year..

Important Note: Monthly memberships can only be upgraded BEFORE the current period of membership expires.
An application for any category of membership received after the expiration of a previous membership period will incur the full applicable fee..

$120 - Open Lifter - 23 years of age and over as at 1/1/2018.
$75 - Junior Lifter - Under 23 years of age as at 1/1/2018.
$50 - Sub-Junior Lifter - Under 18 years of age as at 1/1/2018.
$50 - Non-Lifter - all Coaches, Referees & supporters.
$75 - Pensioner Lifter - on Disability Support Pension or holding a valid .
Pensioner Concession Card.
$75 - Para Powerlifter.
$1 - Spotter and Loader.

How do I become a member?.

Yes, based off scores last year.

Due to recent changes, we are seeking Australian Sports Commission assistance with coaching requirements..

Can I compete across different Federations?.
APU does not have any restrictions limiting anyone from being a member of APU any other federation simultaneously.
There may be some restrictions when it comes to being selected for international competitions.
See point 10, 11,12 for further details..

Will there be competitions run all around Australia..
We will be running events in multiple locations however it does depend on resources and availability of volunteers and qualified personnel.
We have secured competition venues already.
These will be announced before the end of January 2018.

Are you guys Insured and for what? What does it cover?.
We are covered for public liability and indemnity.
Our certificate of insurance will be provided on the website..

No official, coach or athlete shall be permitted to represent Australian Powerlifting Union Ltd at any International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) International or regional championships who are currently participating as a member, official, coach or athlete in any capacity and/or is in any business, professional or sport related agreement with a Powerlifting Organisation or an individual that is currently excluded, banned, suspended or in disrepute with the IPF.
Such athlete who wishes to represent Australian Powerlifting Union Ltd at any IPF International or regional event is required to disengage all activities with the Organisation that is currently excluded, banned, suspended or in disrepute with the IPF and resign at least 3 months prior to any International or Regional championship they wish to participate in and they must participate and meet the qualifying requirements in a qualifying event prior to selection in the National team.
Evidence of resignation and/or permanent disengagement must be presented to the Australian Powerlifting Union Ltd.
Board and it reserves the right to make a decision on the eligibility of the athlete to be accepted or rejected as a member and also accept or reject an athlete to represent APU ltd at any events..

As per IPF Constitution: 14.9 Participating in Non-IPF Competition.
Any lifter, coach, referee or official who competes or participates in an international powerlifting or Bench Press competition not organised, sanctioned or approved by the IPF shall not be permitted to take part in any IPF international or regional competition for a period of 12 months from the date of that non-approved competition.
14.9.1 Notwithstanding article 14.9 the lifter, coach or official may participate in multi-sport international games, e.g.
the Commonwealth Games, the University Games, or the Students’ international or regional multi-sport games that is not sanctioned by the IPF, however provided that there is not any athlete or other person participating in such games in any capacity who is serving his/her Ineligibility period for a doping offence..

As per IPF Constitution 14.10.6 An Athlete or official shall not.
participate in contests or competitions if there is any Athlete or official participating in any division, section or bodyweight class of that contest or competition who has been expelled or suspended from his or her international or national federation or who is serving the period of Ineligibility for a doping related offence..
