Detailed description is As an artist, I specialize in painting on feathers, pencil drawings, and canvas work.
With each art piece I create, I hope to tickle your soul.
I have been drawing and doing some kind of art for as long as I can remember....
Yes, I know "almost everybody says that" but, well, for some of us we are just kinda born with that creative and imaginative side.
Growing up, my sister and I spent many hours drawing, and drawing, and drawing...
letting our imaginations run wild, which were fed by our environment, acres of freedom in the foothills of Montana.
I have spent the last "couple" of years raising two wonderful boys ( both grown) and now a toddler baby girl, my miracle baby when I thought I was too old.
I have worked a variety of jobs, ranging from fish canaries in Alaska to a computer desk job being a debit collector (not my cup of tea), to waitressing and bar tending (currently) but always holding on to my art.
Through plenty of ups and downs and ruff spots in the road, all life lessons along the way, my art has always been my peace, my escape, my means of survival mentally and emotionally.
I studied Art Education at Montana State University in Billings Montana, specializing in water colors.
I soon discovered oils but currently I work in acrylics.
For the last several years, I have been painting on feathers.
They are pretty available where I am at and are something a little more unique than canvas, although sometimes I have to set the feathers aside and let myself "go" on canvas.
I do a lot of commissioned work on the feathers, ranging from portraits to cruise ships to elk.
I also do pencil work and portraits.
My non-commissioned work tends to be more on the surrealistic, dreamy side of life, digging a little further down into the soul.
Over the years, my art work has been "rejected" (too dramatic and 'vulgar'), stolen out of peoples' houses (to later show up in a pawn shop), and illegally copied.
Although I haven't had the opportunity yet to be in many galleries, I figure stolen and copied art must be pretty good stuff to somebody, and to get rejected must have really stirred somebody up.
All humor aside, I have had my art work published on the cover of Rocky Mountain Rider magazine.
I had a one person senior art show at Montana State University Billings, in which I did a series of oil paintings that were all painted to specific songs.
I was a member of the Roswell Fine Arts League in Roswell New Mexico for several years until I moved back to Montana.
I participated in several art auctions at the Yellowstone Art Museum in Billings Montana.
I have shown work at Roundup Memorial Hospital in Roundup, Montana, and currently have work at Rhinestone Cowgirl salon and gifts in Roundup.
My sister and I ran a store, Goddess Gifts, in Roundup, and we have also participated with our art booth at motorcycle rallies in Roundup.
For the last several years, we have had booths at the annual RSVP spring trade show and also the yearly Christmas strolls.
I have done several donation pieces for various causes throughout the years, including the bike rallies and the latest works of donation have been gifts for families of fallen soldiers.
As you look through my work, you will see there is a wide variety of subjects and materials used, affected by life events, or simply requests of others but through the various aspects and changes my life and my art have gone through, one goal has remained the same: I want to touch the viewers' soul through my art, weither it be a glimpse in an eye or a dream like picture that sparks a buried or forgotten memory or feeling.
I hope to "tickle your soul", to spark a bit of recognition, a since of wonder, and just maybe a bit of peace, hope, and healing.
