“What?!” asked the head-angel avatar and a few other disgruntled avatars, “If you do that, these new-fangled avatars will become uppity, and they will look down their noses at us, thinking that we are inferior to them.
And yet, we have been around all these eons serving and amusing you without nary a complaint!”.

Avatar-maker listened to the protest.
In the end, he informed the rebel-avatars that his decision was irrevocable, that not only would he make the new avatars in his own image, he would also give them a very special Gift..

The Gift, he said, would be the most powerful tool in the universe.
Then avatar-maker, in his effort to make peace with the rebel-avatars said he would give them the priviledge of choosing where to hide The Gift..

One rebel-avatar pipes up and says, “Sir, I think you should hide The Gift at the bottom of the sea.
That way if these upstarts try to find it, they will surely drown, as they can’t breathe underwater!”.

The head-rebel bonked him on the head, saying, “Please sir, don’t listen to him.
Don’t hide it anywhere near the sea for I predict that these new avatars of yours will one day develop SCUBA-gear and submarines and other tools they will use to explore the very floors of the deepest oceans!”.

Head-scratch, head-scratch, and before you know it, another rebel-avatar develops a brilliant idea.
“Sir,” he says, “I suggest you keep The Gift in outer space.
After all, no matter how high they jump, gravity will always stop them short.
So, they’ll never make it to outer space!” And he grinned with self-satisfaction, until the head-rebel bonked him on the head..

“Sir,” begged the head-rebel, “please don’t locate The Gift in outer space as I promise you these new avatars will soon invent space-travel and they will be able to go as high and as far as they wish in their spaceships.
Thus they will soon find The Gift if you hide it in outer space!”.

“Well,” said the avatar-maker, “you sure seem to have the gift of shooting down everyone else’s suggestion.
However, you don’t seem to be able to come up with your own.”.

“Not quite sir,” protested the head-rebel.
“As a matter of fact, I think I have the ultimate idea of the best place to hide The Gift!”.

“Well then, pray tell!” said the avatar-maker, with a dash of sarcasm.
“Inquiring minds want to know!”.

“Hide The Gift in inner space!” the head-rebel said calmly.

“Inner what?!”.
.
“Inner space, sir!”.
.
“Please explain yourself,” said the avatar-maker.
“What do you mean by inner space?”.
.
“The inner space is their heads, the skulls, their brains, or their minds sir!”.

“And what is to stop them from finding The Gift within this inner space, this head, brain, skull or mind as you call it?”.

“Because, sir, the way you’ve designed their senses — especially their eyes — they are guaranteed to look everywhere except inside their own minds! Therefore, they are never going to find The Gift!”.

“My God!” exclaimed the avatar-maker.
“You sure are very clever.
And most certainly mischievous…I’m tempted to say devilish! But, very well, unless there are any objections from your friends, you win: I will place The Gift inside each of their minds!”.

“Yay!” exulted the rebel-avatars high-fiving each other all around..

“However,” said the avatar-maker, interrupting their celebration, “I will also manufacture psychiatrist-avatars whose function will be to teach these new avatars how to look for and find The Gift within.”.

And ever since that day, rebel-avatars have always hated the new avatars, but they have always reserved their most vicious hatred for the psychiatrist-avatars..
