Kickboxen ist eine Synthese aus Box- Fausttechniken und Karate, sowie Kung-Fu Fußtechniken und wurde Anfangs der siebziger Jahre in Amerika "erfunden".
Die Kampfregeln sind weltweit anerkannt und werden durch die Schiedsrichter exakt kontrolliert.
Im Wettkampf werden vier Kategorien unterschieden:.

Unterbrechnung des Kampfes und Wertung nach jedem Treffer.
Die Stärke der Schläge ist auf ein Minimum reduziert, weil der rein technische Aspekt und schnelle Reflex im Vordergrund stehen.
Minimale Verletzungsgefahr, deshalb sehr gut für Junioren und Frauen geeignet..

Alle Treffer über die gesamte Kampfzeit werden addiert.
Unterbrechung des Kampfes erfolgt nur selten.

Schläge und Tritte werden mit einem Maximum an Kraft und Geschwindigkeit ausgeführt.
Vollkontaktkämpfe werden immer in einem Boxring ausgeführt.
Bei allen Kämpfen ist das Tragen eines Kopfschutzes obligatorisch.
Sieg erfolgt durch technisches , oder körperliches K.O.
des Gegners, durch Aufgabe oder Abbruch durch den Kampfrichter / Ringarzt (RSC).
