From September of 1989 until October of 2005, APMOA was known as the Adventist Prison Ministries Association (APMA), which was the support and service organization for Seventh-day Adventist Prison Ministry volunteers in the North American Division.

We are now a 501(c)3 international self-supporting professional association of Adventist prison and Jail Ministry volunteers, known as the Alliance of Prison Ministry Organizations and Affiliates (APMOA), that serves as a Prison Ministry training and consultation resource to all levels of the world-wide Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Although we changed our name and the scope of our mission, our officers and Board members are all - and must be - Seventh-day Adventists in good standing at their local churches.
