In 1897, the Polish National Catholic Church began with the idea of creating a new, independent, democratic and Catholic Church.
It was founded in Scranton, Pennsylvania, with authentic Catholic doctrine and traditions, respecting the rights of people, their dignity and freedom.

Michael Archangel Episcopal Church was purchased and restored on South James Street.
By 1939, the new altars were blessed by Rt.
Rev.
Misiaszek.
The following year, land for a cemetery was purchased by loyal parishioners..
In 1965, a decision was made to build a new church with an attached parish hall at 801 Hickory Street.
The altars, pews, and chandeliers that graced the old church were given a home in the new building.
On July 24, 1966, Bishop Joseph Lesniak blessed the beautiful new church..
