Albinea is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Reggio Emilia in the Italian region Emilia-Romagna, located about 60km west of Bologna and about 10km southwest of Reggio nell'Emilia.A document shows that in 980 Holy Roman Emperor Otto II recognized the existence and rights of the ancient Pieve (parish church) of Albinea.
From 1070 it was a possession of the bishops of Reggio, who also had a place here.
