Approximately 1,700 students attend the school.
It became an International Baccalaureate school in 2003, but as of 2010 is no longer one.
Aiken High was ranked in the top 5% of high schools in the nation.SportsAiken High School's mascot is the Hornet.
Aiken won the State Football Championship in 1992, making the playoffs for the past consecutive 11 years.
Aiken defeated rival school South Aiken for nine consecutive years until the streak ended in 2007.
Aiken High went on to defeat South Aiken in 2008, 2009, 2010.
Aiken also was ranked as high as No.
1 in South Carolina in basketball for the 2006–2007 season.The swim team was placed 17th overall in the State Meet.
