Listen Now on Spotify: http://www.ForeignStreams.com.Anthony Melas didn’t have an average childhood; he grew up between Tooting Beck in south London and Ayia Napa, Cyprus where his father resided and whose family owned land on the outskirts of the capital of the Island, Nicosia.
At the age of just seven Melas presented his own bi-lingual radio show talking about the 1974 Cyprus invasion that had seen his family lose their livelihoods and flee their village Ayia Marina.
The show was on NAPA Radio, and Melas was on a mission to “Free Cyprus” using tracks such as Scorpions - Wind of Change to get his message across, a tune that he dubbed to change the lyrics relating to the invasion and its impact.
Being seven years old and knowing nothing about radio or politics meant the show didn’t last, but it was the first taste of media for Melas, who’s family went on to rebuild, starting businesses with club Black N White, opening a Go-Kart Centre and planning a waterpark in 1985..

In 1996 U.K.
garage began to surface in Ayia Napa and U.K.
DJs started transcending into stardom status, this is when Melas turned to DJ Sniper and began to play out in Club Black N White before becoming a resident at VIPs and Club Ice.
At the time he was a house DJ, something he didn’t enjoy but that taught him well.
At this point he had stopped visiting London during summers and was a self-confessed nightlife junkie, soaking in Napa and all that Cyprus had to offer.
Moving from a house DJ into UKG allowed him to blow up alongside the other garage legends, from Creed to CKP, Ranking, DT, and Steve Gordon who had just risen with his Twice as Nice brand from Colosseum on Sundays.
DJ Sniper opened shows for pretty much every hot shot; DJ EZ, Matt Jam Lamont, DJ Luck & MC Neat; disc jockeys who are now household names..

“It was just vinyl and dub plates then no computers, I loved my connection with the vinyl, my first DJ dubplate was done for me by MC Viper, he was saying ‘SNIPER THE KING OF CYPRUS’ I was soooooo gaaaassssed”..

In 2000, he moved on from his discovery of vinyl to discover producing and recording, with his first beat used by Megaman and Ms.
Dynamite.
“Mega had left me a mixtape with Oxide and Neutrino and So Solid Crew on it.
It featured the track Dilemma.
That beat was grime in my opinion; I loved it.
I told my brother Drew Astro that we would one day join this crew.
I was hooked”.
True to his word he officially became a part of So Solid Crew and moved back to the U.K.
at the end of summer 2001 as one of their official DJs, playing weekly on Kiss FM for their radio show and spinning out at various clubs.
In the same year Sniper began appearing in music videos, So Solid Crew’s Haterz, then Ride Wid Us being his first.
The following year he produced a track called "Flowers" for Swiss, spat bars in Greek on a track for Oxide and Neutrinos second album “Super Sensi” and also produced four tracks on So Solid’s sophomore album entitled "Second Verse"..

Like all good things, So Solid Crew came to an end temporarily in 2004, but that wasn’t the end of Sniper.
Heading back to Napa saw him introduce the festival concept to the island, initially called NAPA JAM, (today it takes form and shape as KANDI BEACH PARTY and the annual NAPAROCKS FESTIVAL).
He also continued producing, making Cassius Henry - The One Remix featuring Kanye West and becoming the only U.K.
producer to have a Kanye West verse in that year.
The next few years saw him learn the music business, legalities, PRS, Publishing and more.
He moved to Athens, Greece and began to executive produce a Greek rap album featuring artists who today have successful careers and some even stints on soundtracks such as Furious 7..

As Ayia Napa moved into Hip Hop in 2007, this gave A.M.
the chance to flex his muscles with rap the genre he grew up on.
“I fell in love with rap when I heard B.I.G, 2 PAC, Snoop, Dr Dre, Mase, and I lost my head with the JAY - Z Dynasty album.
Jay Z had a show in Athens and Memphis Bleek, and DJ Green Lantern came to my studio.
They explained to me the concept of mixtapes and why I should have done one”.
He got straight to working on The Scopes On You, his first mixtape that also featured Memphis Bleek.
As a performer he opened up for 50 Cent and Akon at a one off festival entitled MEDFEST.
It was his first ever performance as A.M.
SNiPER and led on to him meeting BBC Radio 1Xtra DJ Charlie Sloth in 2009, who featured A.M.
on his “Being Charlie Sloth” show where he spent 48hrs in Napa with him..

During this time he learned so much about his own craft and dedicated time, money and effort into creating his first official solo release 11EP, which came out in 2011, once he had a taste of solo release-life, A.M.
didn’t stop, releasing AYIA NAPA TOWN (A Rack City Dub Remix) in 2012, Nothing But The Best (mixtape single) in 2013, Bus Pass featuring Wiley in 2014 and a back to basics underground mixtape with Jaguar Skills called SNiPER SKILLS in 2015..

This 2016 sees A.M.
SNiPER working on his debut album.
With several tracks already recorded including Hype (Featuring Curren$y), 4What (Featuring Wiley) and many more.
He also features on the official Fat Joe & Remy Ma – All The Way Up Ayia Napa UK Remix with Sneakbo and Cool and Dre.
He also continues to build nightlife in Napa, bringing the likes of Chris Brown, Skepta, Tyga, Giggs, Lethal Bizzle, Wiley, Fekky and Sneakbo through to perform at festivals and beach parties during the summer..
