My name is Andrea (Petersen) Orem.
I hold Bachelors degrees in Vocal Music Education K-12 and Music Composition from the University of Northwestern in St.
Paul, MN! I absolutely love music theory, singing, choir, reading, learning, teaching, gardening, and investing in friendships.
I love life and I love to help make music theory an enjoyable area of study..
I have tutored students in music theory course material for 3 years now.
I have taught music theory students course material for Theory I and III the past 2 summers so that they can test out of credits in the fall.
So far we have had 100% success with these students passing their test-out exams with flying colors! In Summer 2013 I also started a music enrichment class through the Honors Choirs of SE MN.
Two summers ago I taught these music enrichment classes as well as music classes at the Rochester Boys & Girls Club weekly.
I am developing a workshop called "So You Want to be a Music Major/Minor..." for sophomores through seniors in high school designed to help them learn what all is involved with studying music to see if they truly want to pursue it.
I also have three new classes this summer, titled: Explore Your Voice!, Let's Write Music!, and Oh, Say Can You See! Discovering Patriotic Music -- for Kids!.
I am always open to new music teaching opportunities and ideas, so if you have an idea for something that you have not seen offered yet, feel free to ask and I will see what we can do.
