89th Military Police Brigade History.

The 89th Military Police Brigade is a combat ready, deployable Military Police force assigned to the United States Army Third Armored Corps "Phantom Warriors".
The Brigade stand ready in support of FORSCOM and III Corps.

The Brigades primary mission is to support III Corps as a subordinate command in peace and war.
During peacetime, the Brigade is responsible for 24-hour continuous law enforcement and security support to the major military installations and communities of III Corps encompassing Fort Bliss, Fort Carson, Fort Hood, Fort Leonard Wood, and Fort Riley.
The 89th MP Brigade and its subordinate units are prepared, if called, to support other major headquarters for contingency missions on a worldwide basis.

From the onset of Post-911 overseas contingency operations, elements of the brigade have been continuously deployed executing combat support law enforcement support, personal security missions and military working dog support to all of the Geographic Combatant Commands throughout the Globe.
During peacetime operations, the brigade provides daily law enforcement support and community assistance to the soldiers, civilian workforce, families and visitors to III Corps Instillations.
This support is a combined effort between the military and civilian workforce.

The brigade is composed of five combat support military police battalions at several locations.
Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 89th Military Police Brigade and the 720th Military Police Battalion are all located at Fort Hood, TX.
The 92d Military Police Battalion is located at Fort Leonard Wood, MO.
The 93d Military Police Battalion is located at Fort Bliss, TX.
The 97th Military Police Battalion is located at Fort Riley, KS.
The 759th Military Police Battalion is located at Fort Carson, CO.
Under the 89th MP Brigade's Training and Readiness Authority, these units conduct Police Detention and Security and Mobility Support Operations in support of FORSCOM and III Corps..
The Brigade and Battalion Commanders also serves as the Director of Emergency Services or Provost Marshal at their installations.
This support includes criminal investigations, traffic enforcement and accident investigation, community education, crime prevention, physical security, support to U.S.
Customs, Special Reaction Team, confinement and prisoner escort, police patrols, police reports and records and military working dog operations.

The 89th MP Brigade is a proud organization with a long history.
The Brigade was constitutes in the Regular Army as the 89th Military Police Group on 19 FEB 1966 and activated on 15 MAR 1966 in the Republic of Vietnam.
The mission of the 89th MP Group was to provide general MP support for the III and IV Corps Tactical Zones.
With the removal of US forces from Vietnam, the organization was inactivated on 21 DEC 1971.
On 13 SEP 1972 the unit was activated at Fort Lewis, Washington.
The 89th Military Police Group was designed to command and control the operations of three to five MP Battalions and other assigned or attached units.
Additionally, it provided a Provost Marshal Staff Section to the Corps headquarters when assigned as the senior military police organization.

The 89th Military Police Group remained at Fort Lewis until 21 FEB 1976 when the colors were transferred to Fort Hood, Texas.
On 16 JUL 1981 the 89th Military Police Group was reorganized as the 89th Military Police Brigade.

The 89th Military Police Brigade has deployed around the world in support of US Army missions, whether during war or humanitarian service.
The soldiers of the 89th MP Brigade have found themselves supporting operations in Honduras, Panama, Cuba, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Virgin Islands, Bosnia, Hungary, Romania, Kuwait, Qatar, Iraq, Afghanistan, Horn of Africa, and Guantanamo Bay Cuba.
The HHC 89th Military Police Brigade has supported Operation Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom earning three Meritorious Unit Citations for OIF in 2004, 2006-2007 and 2009-2010..
