Detailed description is หอดูดาวเฉลิมพระเกียรติ 7 รอบพระชนมพรรษา ฉะเชิงเทรา สถาบันวิจัยดาราศาสตร์แห่งชาติ โครงการก่อสร้างหอดูดาวเฉลิมพระเกียรติ 7 รอบพระชนมพรรษา ฉะเชิงเทรา มีพื้นที่ในการก่อสร้างทั้งหมด 36 ไร่ โดยมีอาคารหอดูดาว และอาคารฉายดาวอยู่บริเวณตอนกลางของพื้นที่ มีลานสำหรับจัดกิจกรรมดูดาวอยู่ทางด้านหลังของอาคารหอดูดาว บริเวณด้านข้างมีการกันพื้นที่ไว้สำหรับการขยายตัวในอนาคต ด้านซ้ายและด้านขวาเป็นส่วนป่าของบริษัทโตโยต้า (ประเทศไทย) จำกัด ช่วยให้ความร่มรื่นและเป็นกำแพงป้องกันเสียงรบกวน ฝุ่นละออง และแสงไฟจากอาคารบ้านพักได้เป็นอย่างดี บริเวณด้านหน้าของโครงการยังมีการปลูกต้นไม้เป็นแนวยาวเพื่อใช้ป้องกันเสียงและฝุ่นละอองจากถนนหน้าโครงการอีกด้วย.

การเข้าออกยังคงบังคับให้มีการเข้าออกนอกโครงการได้เพียงทางเดียว เพื่อความสะดวกในการดูแลและเพื่อความปลอดภัย โดยมีอาคารโถงทางเข้าเป็นจุดควบคุมการเข้าออกและเป็นจุดเชื่อมต่อไปยังส่วนต่างๆ ภายในโครงการ ดังนี้.

อาคารหอดูดาวมีลักษณะเป็นอาคารสองชั้น แบ่งออกเป็น 2 ส่วนคือ ส่วนของโดมไฟเบอร์กลาสทรงเปลือกหอย (clamshell dome) ขนาดเส้นผ่านศูนย์กลาง 18 ฟุต สามารถเปิดออกได้ 180 องศา ทำให้เห็นท้องฟ้าได้โดยรอบ ภายในโดมทรงเปลือกหอยนี้ติดตั้งกล้องโทรทรรศน์ขนาดเส้นผ่านศูนย์กลาง 0.5 เมตร ซึ่งเป็นกล้องหลักของหอดูดาว ด้านนอกของโดมทรงเปลือกหอยมีหลังคาเลื่อนทรงสี่เหลี่ยมขนาดกว้าง 6 เมตร ยาว 20 เมตร สูง 3.5 เมตร ติดตั้งกล้องโทรทรรศน์ขนาด 14 นิ้ว จำนวน 2 ตัว กล้องโทรทรรศน์ขนาด 6 นิ้ว จำนวน 2 ตัว และกล้องดูดวงอาทิตย์อีก 2 ตัว โดยควบคุมการปิด-เปิด หลังคาเลื่อนด้วยระบบมอเตอร์ไฟฟ้า.

อาคารท้องฟ้าจำลอง.

เป็นอาคารหลังคาทรงครึ่งทรงกลมสำหรับฉายท้องฟ้าจำลองด้วยระบบดิจิตอลความละเอียดสูง สามารถรองรับผู้เข้าชมได้ครั้งละ 50 คน บริเวณโถงทางเข้าของอาคารฉายดาวนั้น เป็นห้องสำหรับจัดแสดงนิทรรศการทางดาราศาสตร์ที่จะหมุนเวียนเปลี่ยนตามเหตุการณ์ทางดาราศาสตร์ที่สำคัญ ๆ เช่น นิทรรศการเกี่ยวกับดาวหาง และอุกกาบาต ซึ่งปัจจุบัน หอดูดาวเฉลิมพระเกียรติ ฯ ได้นำอุกกาบาตแคมโปเดลชิโร จากอาร์เจนตินามาจัดแสดง และนิทรรศการให้ความรู้เกี่ยวกับระบบสุริยะ ความก้าวหน้าทางเทคโนโลยีอวกาศ เป็นต้น.
