South Korea and the United States kicked off their springtime military exercise on Monday, mostly scaled back this time due to COVID-19. Due to end next Thursday, the joint drill will not include outdoor maneuvers, but rather has been shifted to computer-simulated exercises.
As a result, a Final Operational Capability test will not be included in the drills, but partial training in theater operations under the command of a South Korean general will be in place.
All trainings will be conducted under strict virus prevention measures.
The number of troops and equipment have been minimized, and restrictions on soldiers from both countries gathering at once have been implemented.
