The news came as the city’s director of public health Alistair Hill said the number of cases, dated from a positive test, is coming down across the city. But the lag from cases to deaths means it will still be some time before they also start to fall. Data presented to Brighton and Hove City Councils Health and Wellbeing Board on Tuesday 26 January, showed cases peaked from late March to early May, and again from mid-December to 15 January.
The cost of care in Brighton and Hove is to increase this year
BRIGHTON and Hove City Council is to put up the amount that it charges people for care by about two per cent from April. The council also plans to pay care providers, such as care home operators, three per cent more in the 2021-22 financial year. Proposals to pay higher fees and to charge more were approved at a meeting of the council’s Health and Wellbeing Board on Tuesday. A report to the board, which includes representatives of the Brighton and Hove Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), said that the council paid external providers about £102 million a year for about 3,500 packages of care.
Brighton and Hove Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) said it was aware of scams in the city where people are receiving calls and texts about the jab, and are charged when they reply, or are asked for their bank details. The CCG issued a warning and said: In some cases, people are asked to press a number on their keypad or to send a text message to confirm they wish to receive the vaccine. Doing so is likely to result in a charge being applied to their phone bill. In other cases, callers are offering the vaccine for a fee or asking for bank details.
