17-year-old arrested for allegedly burglarizing Bob s Gun store; no firearms stolen

ABC17 News ST. MARTINS, Mo. (KMIZ) On Wednesday morning, Cole County Sheriff s deputies responded for a burglary alarm at Bob’s Gun in St. Martins. When deputies arrived, they found someone had forced entry into the business. Officials say suspects left the scene with an undetermined amount of merchandise, although no firearms were stolen. Officials say a 17-year-old from Holts Summit was arrested and processed for 2nd-degree burglary. The suspect was taken into custody at a locaiton on the 300 block of N. Summit Drive. 5 teenagers arrested in connection to church vandalism in Callaway County

The vandalism is not related to a hate crime and is not connected the Holts Summit church vandalism that occurred in November. TEBBETTS- Callaway County Sheriff Clay Chism says they have made five arrests in connection to last weekend s church vandalism in Callaway County. Oakley Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Tebbetts was vandalized between the overnight hours of Jan. 22 and the early morning hours of Jan. 23, according to the Sheriff s Office. The damage evident would amount to felony charges, according to Chism. Three adults and two juveniles were arrested and charged for felony offenses of burglary and property damage.

(AP) Five suspects have been charged with burglary and property damage after an historically Black church in central Missouri was vandalized, Callaway County Sheriff Clay Chism said. The Oakley Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Tebbetts was damaged on Jan. 23. The church, which was founded by Black residents in 1878, has been rarely used for years. Chism said the investigation so far has not uncovered evidence of a hate crime but the inquiry is continuing. He noted two abandoned homes in the same area also were vandalized Jan. 23, The Jefferson City News-Tribune reported.

(KMIZ) We want to build it and protect it, because there was a lot of heritage there at one time, said George Hord who grew up in Tebbetts going to Sunday dinners at the church. The 143-year-old, Oakley Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, suffered smashed windows and other damages after a vandalism incident last weekend. We picked up the report at 7:00 on Saturday morning, it is our belief that the church was vandalized overnight Friday night into Saturday morning, said Callaway County Sheriff Clay Chism. Chism said two abandoned residences in the area were also vandalized throughout the night.
