Delmarva Chicken Association honors Sen Dave Wilson

Dave Wilson December 22, 2020 The Delmarva Chicken Association presented its Medal of Achievement award to Delaware Sen. Dave Wilson, R-Bridgeville, for his work and advocacy which are crucial to the success of the area’s chicken community. Wilson is a state senator who represents Delaware’s 18th Senate District and previously served in the Legislature as a state representative. He has been an active member of both the House and Senate agricultural committees, as well as the Senate environmental and natural resources committee, energy committee and veterans affairs committee. “Sen. Wilson is a strong ‘agvocate’ in Delaware’s Legislative Hall,” said Holly Porter, DCA’s executive director. “He grew up on a family grain farm, he is a farmer still, and we appreciate his advocacy on behalf of the entire chicken community that is so important to Delaware’s economy and culture.”

Delmarva Chicken Association honors outstanding growers

December 15, 2020 Delmarva Chicken Association honored Craig Davidson of Frankford as one of its outstanding growers. SUBMITTED PHOTO Delmarva Chicken Association announced the recipients of its Outstanding Grower Awards, honoring farm families in Delmarva’s chicken community with recognition as exemplary farmers raising broiler chickens. Each grower is an independent farmer raising chickens under contract for one of Delmarva’s chicken companies. “Our growers often serve as examples for the chicken community and the nation,” said Holly Porter, DCA executive director. “When growers stand and speak at meetings and public hearings, their voices command attention and respect. When they share their everyday rewards and challenges on social media, they help their neighbors understand how chickens are raised. And they are valued in their communities by all who understand their roles as stewards of the land.”
