HCSO K9s attend Dothan PD K9 seminar

DOTHAN, Ala. – Two Holmes County Sheriff’s Office K9s and their handlers recently attended the 25th annual seminar hosted by the Dothan Police Department K9 Unit.
K9 Lasso, handled by Cpl. Wade Strickland and K9 Highway, handled by Cpl. Jeremy Abbott, participated in the narcotics detection portion of the event, with K9 Highway placing 3rd in the vehicle detection competition out of 70 teams in attendance.
A pursuit resulted in one injury Monday, February 8, after a subject attempted first to avoid a traffic stop and then a set of spike strips.
A deputy with the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a vehicle in the area of Millers Crossroads. Dispatch alerted the deputy the vehicle had been stolen in Bonifay earlier that day.
The subject fled from the deputy, crossing into Alabama.
The chase ended In the area of County Road 61 and 167, south of Hartford when he attempted to evade a spike strip deployment, causing the car to leave the roadway and overturn, coming to rest upside down.
According to a news release from the Bay County Sheriff s Office, arrested were:
Kevan Vital, 26, Panama City armed robbery; aggravated battery with a firearm; possession of methamphetamine
Diyontaie Robinson, 22, Panama City armed robbery; violation of probation
Katlyn Lee, Washington County accessory after the fact to armed robbery; accessory after the fact to aggravated battery with a firearm
Zach Yarborugh, 26, Panama City accessory after the fact to armed robbery; accessory after the fact to aggravated battery with a firearm
Montavious Walden, 27, Panama City accessory after the fact to armed robbery; accessory after the fact to aggravated battery with a firearm
The investigation began when BCSO officers responded to a residence on Houston Street to find a 23-year-old man lying in a yard with a gunshot wound through his arm and into his abdomen. Deputies began life-saving measures until EMS arrived minutes later and rushed the victim to a local hospital
Crestview man charged after shooting into residence on Highway 2

A Crestview man has been charged after allegedly shooting into an occupied camper on Highway 2.
Holmes County Sheriff’s Office responded to the home during the early hours of Jan. 21, where they located multiple shell casings outside the home, as well as bullet holes and fragments lodged inside the camper. No one was injured during the incident.
Investigators identified the suspect as 49-year-old Christopher L. Arnett and made contact with Walton County Sheriff’s Office to assist in locating him. Deputies were able to locate Arnett and arrested him on unrelated charges.
