Ex-Epra Boss Accused of Bribery To Join Politics
Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (Epra) Director-General, Pavel Oimeke resigned last month as he eyes a career in politics.
In a statement this week, Oimeke said he submitted his resignation to the Energy Cabinet Secretary Charles Keter on February 16.
His resignation comes after he was accused of demanding a Sh200,000 bribe to reopen a petrol station in Oyugis, Homa Bay County that had been shut down over tax violations.
Oimeke’s first term at the helm of the energy regulator expired on August 1, 2020, but he secured another three-year term on July 27 the same year.

How self-taught artist painted his way out of drug and alcohol abuse

In a makeshift shop on Usenge-Osieko road in Siaya County, Benjamin Obiero calmly moves his paintbrush across a canvas, slowly producing a captivating painting of a lion.
It is here that the 30-year-old is now nurturing his ability to draw and paint after alcoholism almost ruined his life. Today, the self-taught painter ekes out a living from brush and paint.
Growing up, Obiero knew he loved to draw and got inspired by pieces of art around him; from wall paintings outside butcheries, bars and beauty salons to caricatures.
Homa Bay Woman Beheads One-year-old Son For Refusing To Breastfeed
Residents of Ng’ope village in Ndhiwa, Homa Bay County are still reeling from shock after a young mother beheaded her son for refusing to suckle.
According to media reports, 23-year-old Night Akoth Otieno killed her one-year-old son, Briton Ochieng’, on Saturday at around 9 pm.
Confirming the incident, Konyago sub–Location assistant chief Gabriel Nyatame said the woman’s husband was away at the time. He noted the woman suffers from a mental disorder.
It is said the toddler was crying incessantly when Ms Akoth deciding to breastfeed him. However, the child declined to feed and continued to cry.
