Vaccine eligibility in both Ohio and West Virginia is expected to expand in the next few weeks, according to statements by both Governors this week.

OHIO VALLEY Governors Mike DeWine and Jim Justice this week announced expanded vaccine eligibility in their respective states.
While in Cleveland this week, DeWine announced in Ohio, phases 1E and 2C begin on March 19. Phase 1E includes those with cancer, chronic kidney disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, heart disease, and obesity. Phase 2C extends eligibility to Ohioans who are 40 and older. Between these two eligible groups, 1.6 million more Ohioans will have access to the vaccine.

OHIO VALLEY One additional COVID-19 death was reported in Gallia County on Tuesday, according to the Ohio Department of Health (ODH).
The death brings the total COVID-19 death count in Gallia County to 39.
The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) reported two additional cases of COVID-19 in Mason County on Tuesday.

Behavioral health crises have increased dramatically in the past year primarily due to the COVID-19 pandemic and its mitigation factors. This trend is part of the broader behavioral health pandemic now sweeping across the U.S. Consequently, new attention is being devoted to the development and improvement of state, county, and community behavioral health crisis response systems.
This week, the Ohio State Mental Health and Addiction Services, in collaboration with the Ohio Association of County Behavioral Health Authorities, hosted an Ohio Crisis Academy: Rural Solutions to Crisis Continuum of Services. I served as the initial speaker, followed by Camille Harding of the Colorado Department of Human Services and Margaret Sterling and Chaz Canter of Hopewell Health Centers in Ohio. The event drew nearly 300 participants.
