Summer bazaar to benefit historical society museum

To kick off the Memorial Day weekend, the Highland County Historical Society is hosting its second annual Summer Bazaar and Yard Sale, both inside and outside of the Highland House Museum.
The museum is located at the corner of East Main and East streets in Hillsboro.

Highland County permissive sales tax receipts top $3M in 5 months

Thus far, 2021 continues to show increases over the record-high totals of 2020, with the $662,340.42 reported for May being the third-highest total so far this calendar year.
Year-to-date, Highland County’s total is $3,399,289.66, an increase of $517,753.94 compared to the same five-month period in 2020.
“It was $105,947.35 better than last year [in May],” commissioner Jeff Duncan said. “Our sales tax numbers continue to hold in there, and if anything, increase, so it looks like we’re a little over half a million dollars a
