Norwegian green hydrogen is set to be imported to the UK market following a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Port of Cromarty, Scotland.
The Port of Cromarty has signed a MoU with Norwegian firm Gen2 Energy AS that will see the development of a commercial pathway to import green hydrogen from Norway to the UK market.
The partnership will provide a security of supply for Cromarty Firth’s own plans to develop a largescale electrolyser facility that gurantees green hydrogen to those who want access to clean energy by mid-2023.
New report explores hydropower’s potential in green hydrogen production
The International Hydropower Association (IHA) has released a new paper today (May 25) that explores hydropower’s potential in green hydrogen production and why it could be critical to future developments.
The research and policy paper ‘The green hydrogen revolution: hydropower’s transformative role’ reveals how the leading source of renewable electricity is perfectly suited to produce green hydrogen.
In addition to this, the paper makes several key factors for governments and industry to consider.
The report uses several case studies, such as the 167MW Rjukan and 135MW Glomfjord electrolyser facilities in Norway produced hydrogen from locally sourced hydropower that have been supplying hydrogen for ammonia production to be used in fertilisers.
In the current hydrogen climate, waste-to-hydrogen technology is revolutionising not only the production of hydrogen but also reducing pollution around the world. By extracting various.
