Mehidy, coming to bat at number eight after the departure of Liton Das, played a superb knock of 103 runs from 168 balls which propelled Bangladesh to a formidable total in the first innings. He became the fourth cricketer from Bangladesh to score a Test hundred batting at number eight after Mahmudullah, Khaled Mashud and Sohag Gazi. He thanked the senior trio - Shakib al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim - for guiding him as a batsman.
