POTSDAM - The State University of New York at Potsdam will recognize the Class of 2021 during a series of ceremonies to mark the College s 201st Commencement on Saturday, May 22. SUNY Potsdam will honor graduates with a series of three livestreamed socially-distanced ceremonies, including special recognition of virtual graduates joining the celebration from afar.
This year s graduating class includes:
Mardra Alvarenga of Potsdam, Bachelor of Arts degree in English Writing
Marie Amell of Potsdam, magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art Studio
Kanenishon Arquette of Hogansburg, summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Childhood/Early Childhood Education
April 22 and May 6 orchestra concerts will be livestreamed

The Crookston Orchestra program is going to be putting on two concerts this spring, on April 22 and on May 6.
The junior high and high school orchestras will be performing on Thursday, April 22 at 7:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Orchestra instructor Haley Ellis says the audience can expect to hear some Disney, Irish, and Pirate-themed music.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the in-person audience is limited to two guests per student, but the concert will be livestreamed here: https://youtu.be/FH08tSuJHR0
The 4th-6th grade orchestras will be performing on Thursday, May 6 at 1:30 p.m. and again at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. The 1:30 p.m. performance is the dress rehearsal (peer performance), with the 7 p.m. performance being the performance for family.

Crookston High School Orchestra instructor Haley Ellis is hoping to launch a new, annual musical tradition in Crookston this summer by organizing an inaugural “Orchestra Summer Pops Concert” for both current high school orchestra members and orchestra alumni.
• Do you or a family member play a string instrument?
• Do you miss playing in an ensemble?
• Do you want to play some fun pieces in a low-key setting?
If you answered “yes” to any of those questions, Ellis is hoping you’ll play in the summer concert, which will be held in June at a specific date yet to be determined.

STURGIS, S.D. – This is an exciting time of year for many high school seniors as they decide where to continue their athletic careers.
Haley Ellis from Summerset put pen to paper on Monday and decided to take her talents to the Division I level.
Ellis signed a letter of intent to compete in acrobatics and tumbling at the University of Oregon.
The signing ceremony was held at the Northern Hills Gymnastics Academy in Sturgis.
Acrobatics and tumbling is relatively new with only 36 schools across the country offering the sport.
Acrobatics and tumbling is the evolution of different disciplines of gymnastics which includes the athletic aspects of competitive cheerleading.
