Potentially threatening online messages from people dressed as clowns led to intense police monitoring of social media accounts, recently released hacked police files reveal.
The threats, which came in the lead-up to Halloween during the great clown panic of 2016, from accounts billing themselves as killer clowns led to intensive surveillance, according to records from Washington D.C. s Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).
Clown sightings were recorded all over the U.S. in 2016, with the craze eventually coming to the attention of the police.

Singapore s Ministry of Health on Thursday invoked the Protection from Online Falsehoods and Manipulation Act (Pofma) in response to a statement circulating online claiming that there is a new variant of COVID-19 which originated in the city-state that is more harmful to children. Kejriwal on Tuesday wrote on Twitter claiming that the new strain of the coronavirus found in Singapore could be very dangerous for children and urged the Indian government to cancel all air links with Singapore.
