HELENA â Helena High School students can take advantage of trips to places like France and Germany as part of their World Language studies. Now, Helena High School has added Japan to that list.
Students and staff were scheduled to visit Senshu University Tamana High School in Japan in 2020. The trip was canceled because of the pandemic but that didnât stop these schools from gathering together for a virtual sister school signing ceremony. I am thrilled that we get to join together with Senshu University Tamana High School to learn about each others cultures, provide exchange programs for our students, and come alongside one another to cultivate a strong sister school relationship, says Grace Johnson, Helena High School Student Council President.

Generations of St. Helenans associate the Native Sons Hall with crab feeds, roller skating, wedding receptions, and all-around good times.
But with the pandemic putting a stop to indoor gatherings, those good times have given way to emptiness, silence, and serious questions about the financial future of St. Helenaâs largest and most popular community hall.
âWe have some money, but I donât want to deplete the bank account completely in hopes that weâll get back to normal by next year,â said Phil Murphy, president of the St. Helena Parlor No. 53 Native Sons of the Golden West.
Heâs hoping donations will enable the hall to scrape by until gatherings resume â whenever that may be.
One of the joys of philanthropy is the joy in the giving process. During this season of giving, we wanted to share the story of a growing scholarship program in our P.E.O. chapter.
P.E.O. is a Philanthropic Education Organization that focuses on the education of women, providing scholarships, grants and loans. We are Chapter XM in the Napa community.
Last year, Chapter XM provided support for high school seniors about to enter college, returning college students, college graduates seeking a graduate degrees and women making career changes that require additional education. 2020 was a busy year for us and in spite of COVID-19, we actively engaged with women in and outside our community to help them reach their educational goals.
