WINSTED There is a lot about Winsted and Winchester that people might not know.
For example, according to author Virginia Shultz-Charrette, there were active abolitionists in Winsted and Torrington when other parts of Connecticut still remained more like the southern states.
This information and more is part of Shultz-Charrette’s new book detailing the history of Winchester, which is coming out next month.
The book from Arcadia Publishing, “Winchester, Connecticut: A History from Founding to Flood” is due for release June 21.
