Proposed design for Sky Studios Elstree Hertfordshire construction firm BAM has won a £192 million contract to build the the most sustainable film and TV studio in the world . BAM has been appointed by Sky, NBC Universal, and Legal & General to construct Sky Studios Elstree; a new home of film and TV production. The studios, off Rowley Lane in Borehamwood, is set to open in 2022 and will house 13 soundstages, reportedly set to attract £3 billion worth of production spend in the first five years of operation. BAM, which is headquartered in Hemel Hempstead, says it has been selected to create Sky Studios Elstree due to its expertise in constructing large scale projects.

Letter to Fenland Citizen sparks family reunion and a book

A letter sent to the Fenland Citizen over six years ago has not only led to a family being reunited but also to the publication of a book.
Author Helen Parker-Drabble wrote to the Citizen in March 2014 asking for information about the Parkers of Upwell .
Now she has been back in touch with an update on how that not only led to her bringing three branches of the family together but also to writing her book entitled: Who Do I Think You Were? - A Victorian s inheritance .

An author inspired after discovering more about her family history while on a trip to the Fens has published her first book.
In 2013, Helen Parker-Drabble learned that her grandfather, Walter Parker who was born in Upwell near Wisbech, had grown up in the Tank Yard building in Thorney where the village museum now stands.
Helen, a geneatherapist who explores mental health, psychology and neuroscience to deepen understanding of our ancestors, was overheard by a volunteer steward when speaking about the Parker family.
