Remarkables Park Limited has welcomed the
Government’s strategic support into stage one of a new
Research & Innovation Queenstown hub, announced
today.
The Government has announced it will
lend up to $22.5 million to Research & Innovation
Queenstown Ltd (RIQL), a subsidiary of Remarkables Park
Limited, to contribute to the development of stage 1 of a
$45m greenfield hub called Research & Innovation
Queenstown. RIQL will match the Government funding towards
the development costs, plus fund adjacent roading and
services costs.
The first building will provide
approximately 6000sq m of research and innovation offices
and facilites, as well as commercial uses at Remarkables

According to ARM co-founder Hermann Hauser, Nvidia’s recently unveiled Grace deep learning processor is proof that the company will abuse its market position if it is allowed to acquire ARM. The Telegraph reports a conversation with Hauser in which he claims Nvidia is proposing a “proprietary interface between its Arm server chip, Grace, and their graphics processing unit” and that this risks “locking customers into their products.” Hauser further claims this “clearly shows that they will compete unfairly with other Arm-based server companies such as Amazon and Fujitsu.”

Nvidia is already “clearly showing it will compete unfairly” against others if its takeover of Arm is allowed through, one of the pioneers behind the British semiconductor company has claimed.
Hermann Hauser, the founder of Arm’s precursor company Acorn, believes that US behemoth Nvidia is already preparing to act in an “anti-competitive way” after the company announced plans for a microchip that combines its technology with Arm’s.
